A CLITHEROE bodyshop has a new owner and a new name. Former Direct Paint Solutions

employee Michael John Hughes has taken over the business. With financial support from his

father, 24-year-old Michael has re- opened the company as M.J. Hughes Autobodies Limited. . Along with Lee Whiteley,

Michael s ta r ted work in the Direct Paint Solutions bodyshop when it opened around 30 months

ago in Unit Two at the Brookside Industrial Units in Taylor Street. Although he left 10 months

later, Michael stayed in contact with his colleague as well as with the business owners. Having already talked to his

family about setting up his own bodyshop, Michael contacted his former bosses a t Direct Paint Solutions when he heard the busi ness was about to close. After agreeing to take over the

lease and kiccesfuUy negotiating a price for the equipment, Michael re-employed 34-year-old Lee and also took on Scott McDermott. Haying had start-up help and

three awards for the quality of his beer from CAMRA and also won Cask Marque approval. His 13 years’ experience

will come in very handy at the Brown Cow as he endeavours to make it a reg ular venue for the local beer enthusiasts. These days every pub has

to provide food and with this in mind John asked the resident chef to stay on when th e pub changed hands. Jainie Medina is well-known in the area from his time a t the Freemasons, at Wiswell, and the Inn at Whitewell, so he is familiar with the q u al ity of food that is required in the Rib- ble Valley. John and Michelle moved

north about five years ago and fell in love with the Rib- ble Valley so spent the last two years looldng for their ideal country pub and the place where they would like to settle down. When th e Brown Cow

came on the market they jumped a t the chance to lease i t from Enterprise Inns and they intend to stay in the area for good.
