TODAY’S UniBond League transfer deadline is likely be a quiet affair at Clitheroe, according to co-manager Neil Reynolds. But the Blues boss
admits he has further good news on centre half Jonathan Smith, as well as the return of an old fans’ favourite as cover for James Mann in goal. Fleetwood have can
celled Smith’s contract, which leaves him free to play for Clitheroe with out restriction for the rest of the season, and potentially join the club permanently next season. And while Mann has
proven inspirational for Clitheroe in goal this sea son, should he fall prey to injury, Reynolds has brought in Kris Richens as stand in. Clitheroe’s unbeaten
stint came to an end on Monday against promo tion chasers Bradford Park Avenue, but Reynolds rates this Sat urday’s opponents at Shawbridge just as high

their position at the foot of the table and have proven, like the Blues, that they can beat the top teams. “It will be a really good
game, a tough game, said the Blues boss. “They’ve just picked
up a couple of players from Bradford Park Avenue, Griff and Mark Jones, and they definitely aren’t a bottom of the table side. “A few months ago we
were fighting for our lives so we know what it’s like. “They score goals and
every manager I’ve talked to can’t believe where they are-in the league. “Take nothing away
from them, they have got a good squad and have

mean too many changes. I’ve got a full squad. “Gary Stopforth had

out on the 14 for Mon day’s game and stands a good chance. There’s just a doubt over how reliable his ankle is. ' “Danny Toronczak’s wife is expecting and he could miss if the baby doesn’t arrive before the weekend.” He added “We were the
better side against Brad ford. James Mann had to make some good saves, but I ’m not going to go into the difference in pay between the two sides. “If we’d put our
chances away, it would have been a different story, however, if the lads that had the chances had put them all away, then they would be playing at a higher level.” Reynolds has been
banging his head against the wall all season about refereeing decisions, and has given up fighting the impossible.

talk to him, but he would just belittle you by shut ting the door in your face. “I’ve got to look at our
discipline, as it’s not been brilliant this season, but referees seem to pre-judge us.” But with six games to
go he is optimistic of resuming the stellar form seen of late. “We’re always looking
to improve every season and try to better our last league position. The league has been a lot stronger, the strongest it’s been with the likes of Bradford Park Avenue and FC United this year, and we can finish higher than we have before.” • A group of Clitheroe
fans, including club chair man Carl Garner, are walking from Blackburn Rovers’ Ewood Park to Shawbridge ahead of Sat- urday’s game to raise money for Clitheroe Hos pital and the club’s ground development fund. A collection will go around the ground during the game.

the Grindleton school’s suc cess in being named a Healthy School in a new national government pro gramme, and the fact that Bowland’s sports facilities have been given Sports- mark accreditation by Sport England - in recog- nision of its out of hours
