Members of the parish . council felt th a t it was essential to retain local control of this central village feature.


The grass.will contin­ ue to be mown by the borough council, act­ ing as a contractor to the parish council;’, and with the same:


■ frequency as previ­ ously.


It is the intention to have a new layout fon the rosebed, but for this year the parish, lengthsman will weed the area, eradi­ cate the creeping ivy, spread wood bark to discourage further weeds, and plant some colourful annu-: als around the bor­ ders;., •

“The Vikings” was the title of the talk held in the village hall; This well attended talk by Mr Alan Davis gave an insight into these brave, adventurous and industrious people who traded with the East and possibly went as far as the North Ameri­ cas.
