known and appreciated for his wit and humour. Now, family and friends have

organised the “Phil McQuade Memorial Cricket Challenge” in aid of the Children’s Heart Associ ation. The knockout cricket tour nament will be held on Sunday, at the Low Moor Club and Roefield Cricket Ground. The first match will kick-start at 10 a.m. and eight teams from various pubs in Clitheroe will be competing for a challenge shield. Other highlights of the day

include a barbecue, raffle, tombo la, a bouncy castle, face painting for the children, a “Deal or No

Deal” game and karaoke. There will also be some entertainment in the afternoon provided by local band “Kick-Start”. This will be followed by a disco and presenta tion of trophies at 8 p.m. at the Kings Arms pub. Speaking about the event, Phil’s

brother, Gavin said: “Phil was fun damentally a fun person with a strong love of family so a family fun day is what his memorial is going to be. “At the time of Phil’s death, the

idea of a memorial cricket match was discussed, but only now, when people have come to terms with his loss, it is being organised.”
