CLITHEROE firm Ultra frame competed in a celebri ty five-a-side football tour nament at Blackburn’s JJB Soccerdome. The competition was cre
ated, by. UK Celebrity Events to raise awareness and support for the Macmillan Cancer Support. A team of Liverpool Leg
ends graced the event, and even participated in the group games of the compe tition. Former Liverpool and
Arsenal midfielder Michael Thomas assisted the Ultra frame team in their opening game,’ which the Clitheroe t'eam comfortably won 3-1, with two goals coming from Mark Davies and one from Will Rimmington. The legends generated an

shots from Lewis Rothwell, leaving Harry Lambert in third place.

er father and son bowlers Lee and Craig Rammell - but on opposing teams in a match that couldn’t have been closer, finishing 21-20 to the young pairing of Michael Beardmore and Rammell junior. The experienced team of

to get away from the two younger bowlers in an even ly-matched game. Rammell and Gall, the
.Lowerfold representative, had defeated the husband and wife team of Dave and Beryl Thomas 21-16 in the semi-finals, and Rammell and Beardmore won through 21-17 against David Lord and Ken Wells. Anita Whalley, of Sabden
Bowling Club, presented the trophy and £30 each to the winners, while the run ners up each received £20. The two-day competition
raised a total of £500 for Derian House Children’s

to the Clitheroe team and coached them all the way to the final, with 1-0 and 2-0 victories in the quarter and semi-finals respectively. Bancroft scored the only goal of the quarter-final

cost as stalwart defenders Bancroft and_ Demaine picked up serious injuries, with Bancroft unable to play in the final. An injury-ravaged Ultra- /
frame battled it out in the final with the Whyte Group - the only team to beat them so far. A courageous perform
ance kept the score level until halfway through, when the Whyte Group’s pace and power proved too much as they broke the deadlock with a stunning strike. Ultraframe had a couple of chances, but Whyte’s attackers broke away again and doubled their advan tage. The legends watched on
and provided encourage ment and support for both finalists, and even physio therapy for the injured Ban croft.
CHIPPING have enjoyed a successful summer as they entered three teams into the Catforth and District Sum mer Football League - the first club to ever enter a team in each division of the competition. Under Dave Ross, the
first team had a superb campaign as they finished runners up to Catforth in the First Division, and won a thrilling match to lift the Barron Cup, defeating Plungington 2-1, with both goals scored by midfield general Will Yates. :' In the Second Division,
Dom Hester and Steve Proctor oversaw a mixture of youth and experience as the reserves finished fourth.
/ They also’proved a sur prise package in the Barron Cup, as some excellent dis plays saw the villagers reach the semi final stage, .comfortably beating

DOG Inn’s pre-season preparations continued with another crushing vic tory over Second Division Helmshore Harriers. The Whalley side netted
five times in the first half, with no less than four goals coming in the opening quar
ter of an hour. Ollie McLean scored his
first two goals for the club, with Tom Bartlett, Darren Fothergill and Jamie Enefer also on the scoresheet. Helmshore’s solitary
effort came after Dog has scored their third goal. Dog had to wait until well into the second half

Trebles of the First Divi sion on the way with one of their performances of the season. The thirds continued
their improvement under Dave Slater, Phil Woodhead and Derek Ross'as they won more games this season than in either of their past two. In a strong Third Divi-
/ sion, the villagers put in some displays of quality football and real fighting spirit, and will be looking to continue their progress next season.
