“SAMS” - the Blackburn-based Scrap Arts Material Store, is opening its doors to Ribble Valley community groups and crafters. The concept behind SAMS is to take
waste material thrown away by industry and make it available to community groups or schools for use in arts and crafts. Annual membership of SAMS ranges from £10 up to £30 a year for a non-voluntary organisation or school and members pay just £10 for each full trolley load of mate
rials. The store at Apollo House, Ordnance
Street, Blackburn, holds hundreds of unusual craft making materials recycled
from big organisations, which up until now have only been available to schools and nurseries to use for arts and crafts. It is a not-for-profit organisation and the only one of its kind in the county. Now SAMS is set to reveal its treasures
in a fun-filled open day on Saturday, Sep tember 2nd, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Demonstrations will also be held to show how the recycled materials can be used in a creative and fun way. For more information about SAMS, or
to book a place or get involved in other ways, phone Joanne Mason on 01254 668694. Information is also available on its website (
