A fabulous outdoor play environment. Grassed areas with facilities for wheeled toys, sand, imaginative play and an adventure corner

Attached to the nursery is the new state-of- the-art children’s centre, which provides a fully integrated service to existing facilities.

Cascades daycare, which opened its doors for the first time this month, is just one of the services on offer at the Queen’s Road centre. There is also a dedicated room for eight two to three-year-olds. Complementing these exciting and resourced surroundings, is an outside area with artificial grass and safety surfaces, allowing a wide variety of resources to be used.

For children aged three to four, there are further excellent facilities. The large nursery school rooms are packed with extensive resources with the centre able to provide 16 places for full day care children. In addition, there is a fabulous outdoor play area.

Working closely with Hyndburn and Ribble Valley Primary Care Trust, the children’s centre also provides support and guidance to parents in areas such as ante-natal and post-natal support, smoking cessation clinics, positive parenting classes, breast feeding, as well as coping with twins and multiple births.

RIBBLESDALE Children’s Centre, Clitheroe’s pioneering nursery and childcare provider, will be officially unveiled this Saturday.

The High Sheriff of Lancashire Mr Peter Robinson will declare the centre open and welcome parents to an open day starting at 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The £238,000 children’s centre, which received funding from Clitheroe the Future and Lancashire County Council, is part of the Government’s National Childcare Strategy and will provide a wide range of services to under fives and their families.

Traditional childcare is provided through Ribblesdale Nursery School, established in 1952, it offers 100 part-time places, with two-and-a-half hour long sessions taking place during either the morning or afternoon (term time only). These are led by a well qualified and enthusiastic team of staff, which plan a diverse range of exciting learning opportunities for three to four-year-olds.
