Why put off doing the things you enjoy most? You could so easily allow the pressures of work, home or family to come between you and your pleasures if you're not careful. Do what you have to do then do what you want to do. This may ait sound a litde selfish but you should put your own wants and wishes first and foremost every now and again. Those who love you and like you won’t mind you taking some time to yourself especially as they know you work hard to keep them
happy. il 'o9"05 232 6051
If you think that your value as a person can only be calculated by your cash or career status, think
again.Your friends see you as an individual with talents and qualities that go far beyond what you do for a living, so take a good look at yourself and see what others see! Your tendency to hoard and hang onto too many “things” gets in the way of your progress. If you arc a clutter collector you should get to grips with the situation, have a good clear out and make some space in your life.

Have you been feeling rather left out and marginalized reccniJy? This week you have an opportunity to join a new social circle and add to your list of pals and buddies and ffve that sense of isolation the elbow. Upsets at work could frustrate you and set you seriously thinking about making a dramatic change in direction. You may not be actually totally focussed on business this week, but that doesn’t mean events aren’t developing a momentum of their own. Something as simple as a casual conversation over coffee can create changes you never expected, so choose your words witii care and don’t fight shy of blowing your own trumpet Getting your proper rest is important and is also one of the easiest health strategies you can implement so get to bed early and don t bum too much

CRGS keeps the school flag flying
by Faiza Afzaal________
A CLITHEROE high school has kept the flag flying high for the Kib ble Valley by appearing t^wice in Ofst-
ed’s ne'w “Honour’s List”. High-flying staff and pupils at
Clitheroe Royal Grammar School have been celebrating after being among 234 schools and colleges nationally - out of a long list of 2,291 - to gain two outstand ing reports since 1992 when the inspec
tions started. However, delighted headteacher Miss
Judith Evans said she cannot take any credit for the prestigious award and paid tribute to the pioneering work of former headteacher Mr Stuart Holt. Mr Holt announced his retirement last year and left in July after 13 years as
head at the grammar school. Paying tribute to his incredible work.
Miss Evans said: “We are absolutely delighted to have the school’s high stan
dards recognised. “I t ’s a wonderful accolade, but I can
not take any credit for it. “I t is because of Mr Holt’s excellent
work throughout his years as head, also the incredible hard work of the teachers, superb pupils and support from parents
and governors. “This is also a big achievement for the
Ribble Valley as the grammar school is the only school from the borough to be
named twice in the list.” Miss Evans had more than one reason
to celebrate as the school where she pre viously taught as deputy headteacher - Lancaster Girls’ Grammar School - was also one of the 234 outstanding institutes named twice in the list. The current chief inspector for Ofsted,
Mr David Bell said: “All the schools, units and colleges on Ofsted’s honour's list should be proud of their achievement. “The list stands as testament to the
very high quality of education provided in our best schools, sometimes against considerable odds. “ I congratulate them for what they
have achieved.” Our picture shows headteacher Miss
Evans with Dermot Finch, a CRGS old boy, and pupils at last year’s speech night presentation.(s)

Crackdown on caravan sites
by Natalie Cox .
INCREASED complaints about the management of caravan sites across the Valley -will lead to in-depth inspections
this year. Over the last 18 months, Ribble Valley
Council has seen a significant rise in the number of complaints about the standards of management at several sites. A report to members of the community
committee revealed that the nature of these complaints has highlighted, among other issues, the increased use, legally or other wise, of caravans as permanent residences. The council’s chief executive has decided
that all applications for site licences should be determined by the community commit- t6G.
To put them fully in the picture, the
councillors who will be making these deci sions asked for a report outlining the cur rent position at each of the Valley s sites.
The report notes that three main ques tions have been highlighted from the cur
rent situation. These include questions about whether
sites are being operated in a manner consis tent with the relevant permission, concerns about the quality of water and electricity supply and about the payment of council
tax. This year, the en’vironmental health offi
cer plans to carry out an in-depth investi gation of each site, the first step towards a new policy of regulation across the bor
ough. The council hopes that the investigation
will help improve conditions for site users. However, it also expects that it will have to revise some licences and admits th a t in some cases the findings will lead to increased council tax payments. The report to the committee concluded
by saying: “The issue of increased residen tial use must be addressed, and regularise where appropriate.”
