Musical interlude ’ A concert by the Great
Harwood and Bolton Male Voice Choirs attracted a very large audience to Chatburn Methodist Church on Satur- day and gave a great deal of pleasure to those who attend ed, raising £177 for the build ing fund in the process. • The varied programme
consisted of music from the - shows as well as sacred music. . There were solos by members of the choir and piano recitals by the choir’s accompanist, as well as entertainment by the compere. It was a most enjoyable
evening and church members look forward to a return visit later in the year.-. The next effort, for the
building fund will be a coffee morning on Saturday.

Mrs Bristol thanked the teams who took part in the WI quiz in Clitheroe and also mem bers who provided biscuits. A coffee morning will be held on May 5th with proceeds for the East Lancashire Hospice. . Mrs Bristol introduced the
- guest speaker, Mr John Reav- ley, of Burnley, who gave a very interesting and amusing - talk entitled "The Good Old Days”. He started with a quiz and delighted his audience with poems and sayings in Lancashire dialect. Thanks were expressed by Mrs J.-Bai ley.

Books Parishioners of St Mary’s
RC Church are trying to raise £200 to pay for the cost of sending books out to schools and colleges in South Africa and Zambia where they are badly needed. The parish has a number of surplus books, but it costs £200 to send them and Mrs Winnie Waling and Mrs Peggy Fielding, of Thom Street, have organised a raffle to raise the cash if anyone wants to contribute. The raf fle will be drawn on Sunday morning.
