It soon became clear that that challenge was going to be mounted
this year. But while the side's form was patchy in the league, it was spot-on
in the cups. At the turn of the year the Blues
were in the hat for all four of the cup competitions they had entered
back ion August. And it was the Vase they saved
their best form for. Clitheroe breezed through the

BEMERTON came to Clitheroe with the reputa tion as being the toughest side Clitheroe had faced in the whole competition. The pitch cut up badly on
the day and neither side was able to produce their best football.
The game was a midfield
battle for much of the Lime, with Clitheroe scoring the only goal with around 15 minutes to go. It was a
scrappy affair, claimed by Gary Rishton after a goal
mouth scramble. Tt wasn't a classic, but the
Clitheroe fans hoping to see their side at Wembley again were not complaining.

Tiv er ton provide tough opposition
TIVERTON Town go into Saturday's match with an FA Vase pedi gree even greater than Clitheroe's. They are the reigning
champions, having beaten Tow Law Town 1-0 in last year's'final. They are a very
strong side having won the Screwfix Direct League without losing a game last season. v They finished with a massive 110 points after
winning 26 of their 28
gahies. This year it has been
a slightly different story and they have been on the losing side
several times. But nevertheless they
are a capable outfit and will test the Blues to
the full. They are at the same
standard of football as Clitheroe, and the Blues are well capable of beat
ing them. The hope is the Blues
can hit top form just at the right time, cancel out Tiverton's home advantage and book a place in semi-final. @ Directions: M5 junc
