APPLAUSE WINS NATIONAL RECOGNITION


A Leamington independent fashion retailer which has been in the town for more than two decades has been listed among the top 50 shops of its type in the UK by a national newspaper.


Applause, in Park Street, has been named in the top 50 boutique fashion stores across the nation by The Telegraph.


Claire Ashby, owner of Applause, said: “It’s fantastic for Applause to be regarded as being among the 50 best fashion boutiques in the UK, and also great recognition for Leamington which has such a strongreputation for independent retailers.

FORMER NIGHTCLUB FOR SALE DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITY IN CITY CENTRE


A landmark building on Birmingham’s ‘Golden Mile’, which for- merly housed Zara’s nightclub, is on the market with property experts anticipating a sale in the millions of pounds for the prime site.


Agents Bond Wolfe and Sanderson Weatherall have been instructed by Receivers to sell the Grade II-listed freehold property at 80 Broad Street.


The 13,277 sq ft, three storey property was originally the Royal |Orthopaedic Hospital and closed as a nightclub over two years ago. Gurpreet Bassi, chief executive of Bond Wolfe, said: “The building is a well-known and recognised property in a very popular location. “As the hospitality sector continues to pick up, we are anticipating strong interest both from leisure operators and those with an eye to the potential of this outstanding location.”


NEW ROLE FOR BELFRY BOSS CHRIS JOINS UK GOLF FEDERATION BOARD


Chris Eigelaar, resort general manager at the Belfry Hotel & Resort has joined the board at the UK Golf Federation (UKGF).


The Belfry is renowned for its three golf courses, including The Brabazon and The PGA National, which are recognised as world- class, having previously hosted The Ryder Cup four times and 19 European Tour events.


Chris, who joined The Belfry in 2018, has led The Belfry through a hugely successful golfing year after hosting four major golf tournaments across all three of its world-class golf courses.


Chris said: “It is an honour to join the UKGF board and for The Belfry to join as a Premium Member. This is a fantastic opportunity for me to share my passion for both golf and | hospitality. I’m looking forward to working with the board and sharing my knowledge and support with the members of the UK Golf Federation.”
