ARNOLD LAVER WINS TIMBER TRADER OF THE YEAR 2021
Arnold Laver scooped this year’s coveted Timber Trader of the Year Award in the 25th anniversary TTJ Awards.
Mark Griffiths, commercial sales director for Arnold Laver, received the Timber Trader of the Year trophy on behalf of the company from David Hopkins, CEO of category sponsor the Timber Trade Federation at the Awards ceremony at the Nobu Portman Square in London on September 17.
Sheffield-based timber product distributor and manufacturer Arnold Laver is part of the National Timber Group (NTG), which comprises a number of other timber trading and manufacturing firms.
“This is the first year Arnold Laver has engaged with the Awards, and to say we are over the moon to have won the Timber Trader of the Year title is putting it mildly,” said Mr Griffiths.
Mr Griffiths said the last two years had presented challenges “like no other” and paid tribute to the hard work and energy of staff at Arnold Laver, highlighting all the good work to help customers secure timber products during a very difficult period. “The TTJ Award is special as it recognises the whole business and therefore the efforts of everyone,” he added. “Added to that it was our centenary year in 2020 and due to the pandemic we had to scale back some of our celebrations, so to win the Award this year has been phenomenal. “It was great to be able to attend an industry event in person after so long, though some of our team did also take part virtually. There was definitely a spirit of being ‘back to normal’.”
As well as having 22 distribution and processing depots across the UK and the
national production centre in Mosborough, Arnold Laver is also part of National Timber Group’s e-commerce platform timberworld.
co.uk, launched in April. Patrick Guest, National Timber Group managing director England, said he was absolutely delighted at the win. “We have always known that we have some fantastic people working in our business, but we were still surprised and very proud to be shortlisted in four categories of the TTJ Awards across three of our NTG brands,” said Mr Guest.
“The fact that the winners are voted for by our customers makes our Award even more special. Our whole industry has been through some very tough times recently. All our colleagues have worked extremely hard during the pandemic and this is great recognition for all their efforts.” ■
