SPONSOR | TIMBER MERCHANT OF THE YEAR

W Howard Group

Timber Merchant of the Year category at the 2025 Timber Trades Journal Awards. We have been working closely with merchants right

across the country for more than 60 years, and we know what merchants need from their suppliers: quality products; great customer service; and competitive pricing to help them stand out from the crowd. That’s why we’ve worked tirelessly to develop Europe’s widest range of quality MDF profiles, as well as exceptional customer service support. Launching officially in January 2026 is a major new

development – W Howard Pillo is our new brand dedicated to sustainable wood fibre insulation solutions (https://www.pillowoodfibre.co.uk). Its first product – a loose fill, wood-fibre insulation – is made entirely from recycled MDF; a revolutionary step for an industry that has long struggled with end-of-life solutions for engineered wood products. Working with Manchester- based MDF Recovery, we’ve helped develop a game-changing ground-breaking process. This new technology allows for the breakdown and

recovery of wood fibre from waste MDF, creating a raw material suitable for use in insulation. W Howard Pillo’s loose fill insulation will offer a sustainable, high- performance option for timber frame housebuilders, especially for use in SIPs panels – a build method gaining popularity due to its speed/thermal efficiencies. Our wide window board is also attracting interest. This product gives tradespeople a simple answer to the Building Regulation changes that now require thicker

insulation in external walls. We also now offer a white wood grain laminate window board that gives a painted wood effect with all the benefits of MDF. These are part of our expanding range of primed,

wrapped and veneered profiles, with a multitude of contemporary, classic and period designs. We hold more than 100 stock lines ready to dispatch to our extensive network of builders’ and timber merchants. Although we have a huge core range offering, we can fulfil specific customer non-standard requests using our advanced, in-house CNC and modelling machines, working from drawings or samples to create a 3D model of any shape or size for sign off, prior to production. But we know merchants care about more than just great products. That’s why our external and internal sales teams make sure all our merchants’ shelves stay fully stocked, and we offer marketing support such as brochures, point-of-sale materials and samples. To make sure our deliveries always get where they need to be, we maintain our own fleet of delivery vehicles. Local merchants can also collect our products from either of our distribution centres if they prefer. We’re looking forward to joining our industry friends

and colleagues at the TTJ Awards ceremony on September 19 in London to celebrate all this year’s worthy winners and finalists. ■
