“After two to three months, operators will be


perfectly well versed and expert in the operation of these machines and software,” he said. “On purchase, we bring operators in for three- or four-days training, they then go away for a couple of months and use the machine in day-to-day operation. Then, depending on what further levels of software they’ve specified, we’ll bring them back for another training session. Customer feedback suggests this training approach works best, rather than doing it all in one hit.”


The last stage of the TTJ trophy was application of a clear, matt lacquer. “We wanted the look to be as natural as


possible, to accentuate the beauty of the wood colour and grain,” said Duncan. He is, he added, very pleased with the end result and how well the beautiful timber has worked together with cutting edge wood working technology. Once more the bar has been set higher for future TTJ Awards trophies. ■
