TÜV NORD | ADVERTORIAL FEATURE
TÜV NORD: Expertise across the entire nuclear life cycle
The nuclear life cycle is a complex one, with licensing, construction, operation,
decommissioning, and final disposal. The goal is to ensure safety and compliance through comprehensive reviews and evaluations, radiation protection assessments, and technical inspections. In all these stages, TÜV NORD aims to support the civil use of nuclear technology by providing review services throughout the entire nuclear life cycle
TÜV NORD SUPPORTS AUTHORITIES AS WELL as plant developers, operators, EPC contractors, and suppliers with independent technical assessments based on
regulatory requirements. ● Planning and Licensing Whether it’s SMRs, AMRs, large-scale reactors, or other nuclear facilities such as research reactors, fuel fabrication plants, or interim storage sites – a successful entry or expansion in the nuclear sector requires regulatory certainty, qualified personnel, and well-functioning interfaces.
● Manufacturing and Construction The manufacturing and construction of nuclear facilities involve specific requirements for processes, technologies, quality, and regulatory compliance. TÜV NORD supports with independent inspections, testing, evaluations, and certifications and quality assurance measures along the entire supply chain – from documentation preparation and manufacturing site oversight to final plant assembly – legally compliant, transparent, and in full accordance with regulatory requirements.
● Commissioning, Operation, and Maintenance The operation of nuclear facilities requires continuous monitoring, maintenance, and (re-)evaluation. TÜV NORD supports with independent inspections, assessments, e.g. periodic safety review, and resulting modernization measures as well as quality assurance services.
● Decommissioning and Dismantling Following the operational phase, the process of decommissioning and dismantling begins. TÜV NORD supports with in-depth safety assessments, qualified measurement techniques, and legally robust documentation. The objective is a legally compliant dismantling process that meets all regulatory requirements – protecting people and the environment and enabling radiological clearance in accordance with applicable legislation.
● Waste Management and Disposal The safe disposal of radioactive waste from nuclear facilities is subject to the highest technical and regulatory standards. TÜV NORD supports licensing and regulatory authorities, operators and also waste management organizations – with independent inspections, radiological assessments, and legally sound documentation. The objective is a compliant, traceable, and safe approach to handling low-, intermediate-, and high-level radioactive waste – from classification to final disposal.
With TÜV NORD at your side, you gain the assurance
of a robust and sustainable project – from the initial concept to regulatory approval.
