COMMUNITY PHARMACY SERVICE

Celebrating Long-Standing Service at the Heart of Local Care

The Community Pharmacy Service Award recognises the dedicated individuals within pharmacy teams who have served their local communities from a single pharmacy for more than 20 years. Open to nominations from pharmacy business owners or managers, this category honours loyalty, consistency and the often-unsung contribution of those whose careers have been defined by long-term service and deep community connection.

This award acknowledges that continuity matters in healthcare. Individuals who remain embedded in one pharmacy over decades develop a level of trust, understanding and local knowledge that cannot be replicated quickly.

Judges look for evidence of sustained commitment, professionalism and impact, recognising how long-serving team members help shape the pharmacy’s culture, reputation and relationship with its community. The award is not limited to one role within the pharmacy. It celebrates all members of the pharmacy team whose experience and dedication underpin safe, effective and compassionate care. Strong nominations often highlight individuals who have supported generations of patients, adapted to

significant changes in pharmacy practice and continued to deliver high standards of service through periods of challenge and transformation across the sector.

Last year’s joint winners, Jacqueline Davis of Boots and Sheila McNally of Rooney’s Pharmacy, provided powerful examples of the award’s intent. With more than 85 years of combined service in single pharmacy settings, both women demonstrated how longevity in role can translate into exceptional patient care, reliability and community trust.

Their recognition reflected qualities frequently seen among nominees in this category: quiet leadership, resilience, adaptability and a genuine commitment to the people they serve. Whether supporting vulnerable patients, mentoring

colleagues or ensuring continuity during busy and challenging periods, individuals like Jacqueline and Sheila form the backbone of community pharmacy.

The Community Pharmacy Service Award is ultimately about recognising legacy. It celebrates those whose contribution may not always be high-profile but is deeply felt by patients, colleagues and communities alike. By shining a light on long- standing service, the enduring value of experience, loyalty and care delivered consistently over time is acknowledged.

Through this award, we celebrate those individuals whose dedication has helped define community pharmacy as a trusted and essential part of local healthcare for generations.
