GAIL CALDWELL LEAVES BEHIND A LEGACY THAT WILL INSPIRE SCOTTISH PHARMACY FOR GENERATIONS TO COME

Beyond her operational achievements, Gail has been a passionate mentor and educator, inspiring countless colleagues to develop their skills and careers.

Even from early in her career, Gail’s ability to bridge sectors - hospital, primary care and community pharmacy - was exceptional. During her time as Director of Pharmacy for NHS Forth Valley, she initiated Protected Learning Time for community pharmacies, something many still consider a model for cross-sector working today.

Throughout her 38-year career, Gail has received the highest recognition from her peers, being awarded an RPS Fellowship in 2017 and more recently the Royal Charter Award from the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. Her dedication, innovation and passion have permanently shaped pharmacy practice in Scotland and beyond.

As she now moves into retirement, with plans to enjoy well-deserved family time and new adventures, Gail Caldwell leaves behind a legacy that will inspire Scottish pharmacy for generations to come. Her outstanding contribution to patient care, professional practice and national health policy is a reminder of what is possible when leadership is paired with compassion, vision and relentless commitment. Congratulations Gail!
