Eco-resort at Labuan Sait Beach by Bale Design: Use of bamboo with modern construction methods for roof structures and coverings

Architects and designers from Makassar gained insights from Gede Arista (Bale Design), who shared about his firm’s projects, such as an eco- resort project at Labuan Sait Beach Bali. He presented about minimising the building’s footprint and “ecological architecture (eco-architecture)”, which he defined as a sensitive structure in striving for harmony between humans (and their built environment) with the natural surroundings.


To achieve this, Arista introduced the application of the three pillars of sustainable development, namely: • People (social), • Planet (ecology) and • Profit (economy).

This session was supported with technology reviews from Master Builders Solutions and Mulia Glass Block (a glass block maker specialist).


Bale Design: Preservation of existing trees and use of local plants in the landscape design
