VIDEO SHOWS BRUTAL BEATING THAT KILLED NYC CABBIE
A video shows the horrifying moment five thugs - including three teenage girls - brutally beat a New York City cabbie to death after they failed to pay for their ride. Father-of-four Kutin Gyimah, 52, was violently punched and kicked before one of the thugs delivered a fatal blow to his head, leaving the taxi driver motionless on the pavement at 6.30am. Yellow cab driver Gyimah died after he chased the group - who allegedly ran out of the vehicle without paying their fare in Queens, on Saturday 13 August. He was rushed to hospital, where he later died from his serious injuries. Police said two men turned themselves in on Wednesday night, a 15-year-old girl was taken into custody Thursday night and on Tuesday 23 August a 13-year-old girl was arrested. Austin Amos, 20, now faces several charges, including manslaughter, gang assault and theft. Nickolas Porter, 20, faces gang assault and theft charges. The teenage girls have been charged with gang assault and theft. Amos has six prior arrests, including for robbery, criminal mischief, criminal contempt and sexual misconduct, police said. New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers previously offered a $15,000 reward for information that would lead to an arrest following the ordeal. It comes as yellow taxi drivers in New York are facing the burden of debt and bankruptcy after investing in taxi medallions with thousands on the brink of financial ruin. In footage from the nasty attack, he was seen getting out of his taxi and chasing the gang on foot before they encircle him. He was seen raising his arms to protect

himself from the brutal ambush as the group continued their onslaught. When Gyimah was able to get back his feet, one of the men whacked him in the head, sending him flying to the ground. His wife Abigail, who could not hold back her tears, told CBS2: “I don’t know what to do right now. I have lost. I have lost. He was a good, good man. He was my backbone. My children's hero.” A GoFundMe page has been launched for Gyimah's wife and four children and at the time of going to press, more than $205,000 has been raised. The money will be used to fund his funeral but also support the family’s living expenses and the children's education. One of Gyimah's colleagues wrote on the page: “He was one of our cab drivers who worked honestly and tirelessly to support his family. “All through the worst days of the pandemic he was one of the few who still drove a cab continuously to provide support for our city and its citizens. Please help honour him, his work and help his family.

TURKISH CABBIES MUST ASK FOR DOCUMENTS FROM FOREIGNERS
Cabbies who don’t ask for official doc- uments from all foreigners travelling between provinces will be charged with “migrant smuggling,” according to a new regulation by the Turkish Interior Ministry, reports Hurriyet Daily News. The decision was sent to the chambers of commerce in all 81 provinces by the provincial immigration authorities. According to the new regulation, when a foreigner asks a taxi driver to drive to another city, the driver will have to ask the foreigner for official documents. If the foreigner is a tourist, he or she can only “make the ride after showing passports.” The regulation says, a taxi driver should not start the intercity travel without seeing these documents. Otherwise “the driver will be fined” and “charged with migrant smuggling.”
