Would that one of those miracles occur - such as you read about in the national dailies - whereby somebody would contact this gentleman and come to his rescue as soon as possible.


We end with the most dramatic rescue scenario of all, that of potential victims of fire. In our January issue there was the Gainsborough driver who actually tackled a vehicle fire and averted far wider danger for all concerned. Then in February a driver alerted people in a St Austell house, thus enabling them to get out alive and without major injury. However, we’ve chosen for our overall winner the Oldham driver, Shabir Hussain, whom we featured in April follow- ing his rescue of seven people from a house fire. May we salute you all, and thank you for being on this earth – which meant that many others could do the same.
