BRISTOL DRIVER OVERHEARD BURGLARY DISCUSSION

A quick-witted taxi driver called police after hearing a burglar, who was in the back of his cab, rifling through and discussing with a friend the contents of his latest raid. Prolific burglar Samuel Aitken, 35, got into the taxi having burgled a home in Brislington,

while the parents were at hospital with their young child who had broken a leg.

The taxi driver dropped Aitken off at an address in Bedminster, before phoning police to report his suspi- cions.

According to the Bris- tol Post, Bristol Crown

Court heard that Aitken, of no fixed abode, had burgled homes since he was 13 and had spent a majority of the last 16 years in prison.

Aitken pleaded guilty to burgling the home on September 20 and was jailed for four and a half years.

WREXHAM RACIST RANT WAS RECORDED ON PHONE

A taxi driver, Maximus Amiri, used his mobile phone to record a foul- mouthed rant by a man who had no money for his fare. The passenger racially abused him and threatened to “rip his head off.”

According to the North

Wales Daily Post, Shaun Gary Jones, 21, from Wrexham, admit- ted three charges of criminal damage, one of racially abusive public disorder and another of racially- aggravated assault on August 30.

Jones, unemployed,

received a suspended 12-week sentence when he appeared at Flintshire Magistrates’ Court at Mold and was sent on an “eradicat- ing racism” course. He was also ordered to pay £875 compensa- tion to the victim and £80 in costs.

CARE WORKER’S GUILTY PLEA AFTER CLITHEROE TAXI INCIDENT

A 45-year-old care worker punched a taxi driver and grabbed his steering wheel as he drove along a Clithe- roe road.

Blackburn magistrates heard the taxi crashed into a parked car and was a total write-off. And the court was told

the offence was viewed as so serious it carried a maximum sentence at the Crown Court of seven years in prison. Karl Paul Roberts, 45, from Clitheroe, plead- ed guilty to causing danger to road users by behaving in a way

that would be obvious to a reasonable per- son that to do so would be dangerous. According to the Clitheroe Advertiser, he was made subject to a four-month curfew between 9pm and 6am and ordered to pay £145 costs.

TEENAGE TRIO IN COURT OVER ARMED TEESSIDE CAB ATTACK

A taxi driver had a knife and a bottle swung at him by three teenagers when he declined to take them into his cab.

One of the boys pulled out a knife, stabbed the taxi’s back tyres then lunged at the cabbie with the blade. Luckily the knife only

caused damage to his jacket, Teesside Crown Court heard.

Another swung a bot- tle at the cabbie’s head which shattered on hitting his elbow as he protected himself. According to the Teesside Evening Gaz- ette, William Sapio, 19, was sent to a young

offenders’ institution for 14 months. Arron Richardson, 19, was given a 13-month sen- tence suspended for a year with 100 hours’ unpaid work. A 17- year-old boy was given a youth rehabilitation order with six months’ supervision and 80 hours’ unpaid work.
