EXPANDS ACROSS THE COUNTRY
2023 is already shaping up to be another very busy year for the team at Take Me Group, with more
local taxi
businesses joining the growing teams around the UK. From 9 January, a new taxi brand has been formed: Take Me Birmingham. TC Cars based in Solihull and Wednesfield Radio Cars Based in Wolverhampton will be a big part of Take Me Birmingham, which also includes Heritage Taxis, Direct Taxis and Premier Taxis. Jim Sharr who heads up the team at Wednesfield Radio Cars told PHTM: “The Take Me team have the taxi service industry running in their
blood. They bring a rich resource of skills and we wanted to join that group of enthusiastic people rather than be asset stripped by some venture capitalist.” Under the new Take
Me
Birmingham brand, there is one easy to use phone number to book from the new 800+ group fleet. Customers can also book via the Take Me phone app where they can make instant bookings, see fare costs and track their driver. Take Me has also added A1 Embassy, Stoke-on-Trent to The Take Me North West group which already includes Intercity Private Hire, Westside Taxis and Club Class. A1 Embassy has over 40 years’ operating experience and is one of the fastest growing private hire
services in the area transporting over 15,000 passengers a week. Mahanas Rangzeb told PHTM, “The team here are delighted to bring our 60+ vehicle fleet to the Take Me Group. We know that they will help with our technology, as well as helping to grow our territory. Also, as part of the North West Group our drivers will have less down time and wasted return journeys.” MD, David Hunter, added “I’m really enjoying bringing the taxi industry together. We are offering good hard working local taxi firms the opportunity to improve what they offer to customers and their staff. If we improve what we do there is a bright future for the industry.” For more information email:

TIGER 2000: 24 ROCHDALE FIRMS MERGE TO IMPROVE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE
Taxi firms from across Rochdale have merged under one umbrella in the hope of improving the customer experience. In total, 24 firms have merged to form the new ‘Tiger 2000’ brand including Tiger Cars, 2000 Cars, Castle Taxis, Strand Taxis, United Millennium, Central Newline, Town Taxis, Cozy Cars and Heywood Cars. Passengers will still be able to use the same number for each individual firm and can also use the new ‘Car 2000’ to book a ride. James Scholes, Tiger 2000 manager, said the idea was formed at the end of 2020 with 2000 Cars the first firm to make the move towards amalgamation due to

drivers since the pandemic. With the merger it means that taxi firms will be able to operate across the borough instead of in their core areas which James said will cut down on dead mileage. For customers in all areas it should mean more availability of drivers and quicker pick up times. “We’ve got a company in every part of Rochdale and Heywood,” added James.
“It makes absolute sense to have this cooperative of the different firms. It reduces costs, provides a better service and fills that gap of the number of drivers we lost due to the pandemic. We’ve got a fantastic firm, we probably now carry 80% of the taxi users in Rochdale on a daily basis.” James added that the firms’ offices will be kept open and no staff have lost jobs due to the merger.
