CARDIFF CABBIES PROTEST CITY COUNCIL PLANS TO REMOVE LIMIT ON EV AND EURO 6 TAXIS
Large numbers of Cardiff hackney carriage drivers congregated in the city centre on Thursday 5 January, to continue their ongoing protest against Cardiff City Council. Before Christmas, drivers had swamped County Hall to protest against Cardiff City Council’s plans to remove the vehicle cap for electric and Euro 6 cabs. Drivers were protesting again showing their dissatisfaction at the plans to remove restrictions on the numbers of electric/euro 6 cars allowed to work in Cardiff. Unite Wales claims that this will mean that drivers with older vehicles will find it harder to make a living with the competition and therefore find it harder to invest in new greener vehicles.
