POLICE AWARD GIVEN TOWOLVERHAMPTON CABBIE WHO HELPED OFFICER DETAIN SUSPECT


A taxi driver from Wolver- hampton who came to the aid of a student police officer trying to detain a suspect has been commended for his bravery. Ranjit Singh was presented with a Chief Constable’s Good Citizen Award at a special ceremony on Tuesday evening, 17 January, for


his impressive actions last year. The 50-year-old was in Wolverhampton city centre on the morning of March 14 when he saw the lone officer attempting to


apprehend a


man who was responsible for a crime that had been reported to her that day.


CAERNARFON MAN FINED AFTER NOT PAYING £15 TAXI FARE IN BANGOR


A man from Caernarfon was fined after he admitted to making off without paying his taxi fare. Christopher McArevey, 46, of Hyfrydle, was accused of not


paying his £15 fare while in Bangor on August 19, 2022. He gave an indicated plea of guilty at Caernarfon Magis- trates’ Court on January 12. McArevey was ordered to pay a


£40 fine, and compensation of £15. This totalled £55, to be paid as a lump sum within 28 days. An application was made for deductions from McArevey’s benefits.


BRIGHTON TAXI FIRM OFFERS 50% DISCOUNT FOR A&E PATIENTS DURING AMBULANCE STRIKE


Streamline Taxis offered a 50% discount for people who needed to go to A&E during the ambulance strike on 11 January. The taxi firm said that more than 30 people went to the Royal Sussex County Hospital’s A&E department in Eastern Road, Brighton, during the last strike on December 21. This time, almost 3,500 ambulance workers across three trusts went on strike across the south coast . GMB said its members have
