THUGS LAUNCH VICIOUS ATTACK ON MANCHESTER CABBIE LEAVING HIM SERIOUSLY INJURED


Two thugs launched a vicious attack on a taxi driver leaving him in a serious condition in hospital. The suspects assaulted the driver, aged in his 60s, and tried to steal his taxi in the terrify- ing robbery on Cleveland Road in north Manchester. They also stole his phone. The Manchester Evening News reports


that the victim was taken to hospital where he remained with severe head injuries. His condition is described as serious, but not life-threatening. Two 17-year-old boys have been arrest- ed on suspicion of robbery and remain in custody for questioning. Detectives are now appealing for any-


CABBIE RACIALLY ATTACKED AT HOTEL IN RENFREW AND LEFT WITH FACIAL WOUNDS


A drunken brute launched a vile racial attack on a taxi driver and left him with slashes on his face after smashing his car window. According to the Daily Record, the 29- year-old victim was subjected to the violent assault in the early hours of Sat- urday 26 March, outside the Glynhill Hotel in Renfrew’s Paisley Road. He had arrived around 2.30am to pick up a fare, but a row quickly broke out, resulting in the driver needing hospital treatment. The yob started an argument with the driver over the fare and then proceed- ed to hurl racial abuse at him from the back seat. When the driver asked him to get out,


the situation quickly escalated and he lost the plot. In a rage, the thug punched the driver before damaging the car door and hurling an object through the front window. The shattered glass then covered the man’s face and body, leaving him with multiple bloody wounds. The suspect fled the scene and the driver attended hospital in Paisley where he received treatments for his injuries. Police in Renfrew have now launched an investigation to trace the man responsible for the assault and hun- dreds of pounds of damage to the vehicle.


BOLTON CABBIE STABBED AND CHOKED IN ATTEMPTED ROBBERY


A man has been charged after a cabbie was stabbed and choked with a seatbelt in an attempted robbery in Bolton. The Manchester Evening News reports that the incident hap- pened on Trinity Street at around 2.40am on Friday, February 4. In the attempted robbery, the driver was stabbed in both hands, police said. He was also choked with a seatbelt. Stephen Mawmbwe, of no fixed abode, has now been charged with attempted robbery and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. The 28-year-old has been remanded into custody and was to appear at Bolton Magistrates’ Court.

KNIFEPOINT ROBBERY OF TELFORD CABBIE


Telford Police is appealing for informa- tion about the robbery, which took place around 12.45am on Saturday 26 March. The Shropshire Star reports that the driver had been on Duffryn in the Hollinswood area of the town, when he was threatened with a knife, assaulted, and suffered minor injuries to his face. Police said that more than £300 in cash, two mobile phones, and a dash cam were stolen. The victim described six male suspects, all in their 20s – five of them black, wearing all dark cloth- ing, one white, wearing a cream hoody. “Officers urge anyone who witnessed the incident, captured it on CCTV or dash cam, to get in touch with them.


BLACKBURN TEEN ATTACKED CABBIE AND ROBBED HIS CAR


A 17-year-old boy has appeared before Blackburn Magis- trates. According to the Lancashire Telegraph, the court heard the boy and two other youths attacked a taxi driver, punching him repeatedly before ordering him out of the vehicle. When police stopped the vehicle the defendant was driving, he deliberately reversed into a police vehicle. He then punched an officer in the face. The youth, from Blackburn, pleaded guilty to robbery, assault of an emergency worker, dangerous driving and driv- ing without insurance. He was remanded on bail for the preparation of a pre- sentence report.
