also in use for the double fl ag halyards. In addition, this same photograph shows numerous other details, including the coiled ropes on the boat deck and in the boats. Multiple rigging materials are also evident in Figure 45; the long, horizontal runs are Caenis line, the gently curved antenna lines are Modelkasten wire, and the taut funnel stays are Ngineering stainless steel wire.
After completing the rigging I discovered something was missing: the ship’s name on the stern! The kit did not come with a decal, so I had to make one. I purchased Testors custom decal system and tried it out. My fi rst attempt was a failure on all fronts. So, on my second attempt I made the decal in four pieces, rather than one long one. I fi rst coated the stern with “Pledge with Future”, then applied the four decal pieces to those challenging compound hull curves. When dry, I added another light coat of Future, and yes, I had to dull-coat this area without re-coating the rest of the ship! (Figure 46)
