with the folded wings. I placed it in front of the hangar door that I had long ago cut open with a razor saw. (Figure 33) Note the historically-correct metal deck I fi tted inside the hangar.


After this plane was in place I attached the catapult- mounted planes and went to work on the ship’s cranes. Using archival photographs for reference I added metal jibs, dual cables and other details to


make them look realistic. (Figure 34) Once installed, these cranes, the aircraft, the catapults and the utility boats really made the center of the ship look busy. (Figures 35 and 36) I should point out the windows in the catapult columns; these were made from a ten-year-old Gold Medal Models/Scale Master Invisaclear decal sheet.
