“Some of our shippers are now requesting that the fuel surcharge be adjusted to track against the specific type of equipment used in delivery, such as dry-van versus temperature-controlled van. In some cases, they are also specifying a fuel surcharge that tracks against a straight truck. These customers may have three different fuel surcharges based on the equipment used. As a result, Sunset has created a FlowLogix solution that automates the work of assigning the correct fuel surcharge to each shipment. Without this FlowLogix solution, Sunset would have to manage that manually. This functionality touches upwards of 600 shipments each week, saving us the cost of two or three full-time employees.”
