“We have been able to create custom software solutions that depend on the ability to pass data between McLeod and outside solutions. Without the APIs, we can’t as easily or reliably pass the data into or out of McLeod to perform the work we need to get done. The APIs are our gateway into all things McLeod. The way I usually put it is that McLeod is this great diesel engine that is constantly running in the background. This allows us, through the APIs to build solutions and bolt them onto PowerBroker. We’ve found an assortment of ways to meet our customers’ requirements and requests. All the while, PowerBroker continues to run like a well- oiled machine in the background.”

“At fi rst, our customers needed to enter their orders manually through the portal, but then we created an inbound PO module as a component of the portal, and this module automates that work. This was possible only because of the McLeod API, which allow us to pass data between the module and PowerBroker. This module has really transformed our company. We have more than 1,000 active customer users. We are consuming purchase order data from our customers months before a shipping
order is ever created.
This allows us more time to ensure capacity is there when we need it. The module provides visibility into the entire
process. When an order is actualized, we
feed that PO data into McLeod through the API so that the operations team has full visibility down to a SKU level of what should be on the back of a truck.”
• We can take proactive action to avoid service failures.
“Some of our customers expressed concerns about not having visibility into the products that are coming inbound. The problem that results is that they can get an advanced shipment notifi cation from one of their vendors that a shipment is about to go out, but by that time, it will arrive behind schedule. We’ve built this PO module so that we can alert a vendor and say, ‘Based on the transit time needed, if you don’t submit this as an order for pickup in the next 24 hours, it will not arrive when our client expects it to.’ In this way, the PO module allows us to get ahead of the ball so that our customers don’t fi nd out on the day a shipment is supposed to show up on the dock that it hasn’t even shipped yet. It’s all about visibility. We can now consume the data we receive from our customers and be proactive.”
