GRU stacks up Receiving 110.5m passengers, Dufry’s operations led the pack in terms of total share of international passenger volumes (45%), followed by DFA with 38.9m passengers (16%). Third-placed DFS recorded 26.6m pax (11%), while 3Sixty and Motta drew similar shares at 14.7m (6%) and 13.7m (6%). Broken down by nationality, DFA’s
growth curve has been fuelled by double-digit traffic rises from the likes of the Dominican Republic (+15.4%) plus Brazil (+12.5%) and Colombia (+11.4%). Brazil’s cautious, post-recessionary

climb has instilled confidence in air travel, a welcome development following key DFA expansions at Rio de Janeiro-Galeão and São Paulo- Guarulhos (GRU) Airports in the past year, with more activity expected in the coming months [see p31]. With the exception of Motta (Panama), US travellers were the leading departure nationality for the top five. In the top 10 departure airports
in the Americas, the data reveals – somewhat remarkably – growth across every single location. GRU achieved the highest growth gains (+11.2%), while mid-single digit wins were recorded at New York Newark Liberty (+7.2%), Chicago O’Hare (+5.7%) and Los Angeles (+5.7%) International Airports.
