The US/North America has long been considered to be a less dynamic environment for duty free & travel retail – due to the large volumes of domestic travellers – however, many would argue that this view is outdated now. As a leader in this market, how have you seen things change? There’s definitely continued growth opportunities in retail in North America. Paradies Lagardère works closely with its airport partners

Division now offers unique restaurant experiences in 42 airports, with an expanded portfolio of approximately 100 brand partners and proprietary concepts ranging from full-service to fast-casual to quick-serve.
How could they improve further? I think there’s an increased interest in creating an enhanced customer experience in airports across North America. Travel can be stressful. A delicious meal, or a cool store to pick up something special for yourself or as a gift for someone else can definitely add more to the entire experience. Airports know all of this and they’re working to bring that to travellers. We’re ready to be a partner for them.
The 10-year contract at IND presents a great opportunity for you guys. Tell us how important the contract length is in delivering a world-class shopping environment? IND is currently in the middle of a renaissance with its airport and what it offers travellers. We’re thrilled that the airport team trusted us enough to be with us for the long haul and a partner in creating an exciting and dynamic retail program. Many of the offerings are
powerhouse brands such as Mac; we’re offering one of our most popular proprietary brands, No Boundaries, which offers outdoor clothing and equipment for visitors coming to the area to take advantage of the outdoor activities the region has to offer; and we’ve developed several retail stores that allow travellers fun shopping opportunities, along with the opportunity to learn a little more about the city’s history and culture.
