Dear readers,
As I sit here in my home, I hear “ach-choo” come from down the hall. Immediately I begin to ponder the variety of potential illnesses that my son could have just brought into our space. I can't help but reflect on the importance of infection prevention and control, especially in a senior living community. In these uncertain times, itʼs crucial that we all remain vigilant in our efforts to keep seniors safe and healthy.
Thatʼs why weʼre excited to bring you a collection of informative articles in this
issue, starting with “Trends in Infection Prevention and Control" on pg. 8. This piece delves into the latest strategies and techniques being used to keep communities sanitized and free of harmful pathogens.
We also highlight “Senior Living and the Use of Artificial Intelligence in Infection Prevention and Control,” on pg 14, which explores the ways in which technology is revolutionizing the fight against infectious diseases. From robots that can disinfect entire rooms to predictive analytics, AI is rapidly becoming a vital component of infection prevention.
And, of course, we canʼt forget to schedule a visit with our doctors this fall as we
read, “Itʼs Time to Roll Up Our Sleeves for a Shot...or Two.” on pg. 20. As COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc across the globe, vaccination has become a crucial tool in our arsenal against the virus. In this article, we explore the importance of vaccination in senior living communities and highlight some of the challenges that arise when attempting to vaccinate older adults.
Overall, we hope that this issue serves as a useful resource for those working in senior living communities. By staying informed and implementing smart practices in infection prevention and control, we can help keep our most vulnerable populations safe and protected.
