that the demographics of this country are going to become increasingly diverse. And as we age, there will be different kinds of needs and they're going to be more and


more people requiring special kinds of sup- port in ways that might not be best provided at home.”


“I'm going to try my very best to paint the


picture about the why…why there should be a different mindset and a sense of ur- gency for leaders to have a strategy in place to name the different ways that we want to show up,” commented Ms. Johnson-Cusack. “It’s about engaging more authentically with diverse population groups, to attract and retain employees who are going to pro- vide superior service and increase the value of what the senior living industry does and how the industry interacts with population groups that have traditionally not had their family members age in any place other than in the home.”


Gloria is also the co-author of Growing the Elephant - Increasing earned advantage for all, published by Practical Inspiration and available wherever you buy books. The book advances the conversation on DEI to make it more approachable and applicable for everyone to understand and offers a new perspective for readers to consider what the coauthors term “earned and unearned advantages.” She explained, “We all have them - some people have more advantages than others because of who they are and where they are from. But, in this book, we move the conversation forward by encouraging the growth of earned advantages,” as quoted from Bloomberg’s Best Books of 2022 in the category of Model for Success.
