IT’S TIME TO ROLL UP OUR SLEEVES FOR A SHOT… OR TWO
BY STEPHANIE ROBERT
As the fall respiratory virus season looms, a new lineup of vaccines to help protect Americans against COVID, flu, and RSV are coming soon to a provider near you. A revamped COVID booster is expected to be available in late September, while flu shots are already being administered at doctors' offices across the country. For the first time, infants and seniors can be immunized against RSV, a virus that has been difficult to prevent.
However, implementing these vaccines effectively poses challenges and confusion. Complications include increased costs for insurers and healthcare providers as the government is no longer providing coronavirus vaccines for all. Additionally, there are unanswered questions about timing, payment, and other issues until all vaccines are officially approved.
