The Positive Impact of Mentorship at Argentum
Judy commends Argentum’s Women in Leadership (WIL) program, which promotes mentorship and the advance- ment of women in the senior living industry. Brooke Deckert, Regional Vice President at EmpowerMe Wellness, is one such beneficiary of the WIL program. As Judy’s mentee, Brooke experienced firsthand the positive impact of mentorship on her personal and professional growth.
Judy and Brooke’s mentoring relationship revolved
around discovering Brooke’s strengths through Gallup StrengthFinders. This assessment allowed Judy to under- stand how Brooke could leverage her abilities in her roles effectively. Additionally, they discussed business strategies and developed plans together, both strategically and tac- tically. Judy also emphasized the importance of setting up a personal board of directors—a support system that provides input and feedback. Judy Whitcomb’s journey from United Airlines to be- coming a strong advocate for mentorship in the senior liv- ing industry highlights the transformative power of guiding and supporting women leaders. Her emphasis on a growth mindset, continuous learning, and developing others re- flects the attributes that exceptional leaders possess. By fostering mentorship programs like those at Argentum, the industry is nurturing a culture of empowerment, growth, and inclusivity. As more women find supportive mentors and embrace their unique stories, the senior living industry will undoubtedly flourish with diverse perspectives and a strong sense of community.
Argentum's Women in Leadership (WIL) initiative recognizes the critical role that women, at all levels, play in shaping the success of our communities and the broader senior living community. The goals of WIL are to provide a platform to showcase top talent, help women leaders create and strengthen a network of allies to champion their work, and provide oppotunities for professional growth and development for women at all levels in the senior living industry.
Joining WIL is free, open to women and men in the senior living industry, and programming is supported through sponsorship. To learn more about WIL or become a sponsor, contact Meredith Bonyun at
