Morningside Place, an Anthem Memory Care community in Overland Park invited four se- nior living communities to fill up their dance cards at a prom for the elderly held at 75th Street Events. This soiree with a twist fea- tured dinner, lively music, dancing, friendly conversations and the traditional crowning of the prom king and queen. “This was a great way for all of the participants to re- capture a wonderful moment in time,” said Chasity Robinson Mwangi, senior commu- nity relations director for Morningside Place. “They may have dementia, but it doesn’t mean they can’t enjoy these special moments. It is a privilege creating something so mean- ingful for them.”
National operator Civitas Senior Living is proud to announce its continuing rollout among seven of its Texas communities with Select Rehabilitation for on-site physical, oc- cupational, and speech therapy. The stress and worry from family members of an el- derly loved one experiencing a fall alone in their homes or being unable to move as ef- ficiently is alleviated thanks to Civitas and Select Rehabilitation’s partnership. Select Rehabilitation will provide on-site physical, occupational, and speech therapy as well as fall prevention technologies to improve res- idents’ strength, flexibility, endurance, and balance to heighten their quality of life in seven more Civitas communities. The thera- pists will also partner with pharmacy provid- ers and physicians to ensure medications or conditions aren’t influencing falls. The seven communities are: Double Creek Assisted Liv- ing and Memory Care in Round Rock, TX; Elk Creek Assisted Living and Memory Care in Burleson, TX; StoneCreek of Copperfield in Houston, TX; Tech Ridge Oaks in Austin, TX; The Avenues of Fort Bend in Missouri City, TX; The Grandview of Chisholm Trail in Fort Worth, TX; and The Ridglea Senior Living in Fort Worth, TX. Now 14 Civitas communi- ties are partnered with Select Rehabilitation with plans to roll out the partnership for the remaining communities this year.

Individuals, nominated by their peers, have demonstrated a desire to make a positive difference in the lives of residents and stand out as role models in the industry.
