NEGOTIATING OUR CHANGING WORK LIVES
Workplaces and the work world are changing fast—and experts at the Senior Living Executive Conference offered many ways to put these into play. In an engaging and humorous presentation (he used a blind date experience to illuminate recruiting issues at one point) keynoter Robert Richman, former culture strategist at Zappos, outlined how an amazing workforce culture can help people grow, inspire great service, and ultimately drive revenue. Some of the elements of building that culture: Empowering employees, establishing trust, personal accountability, and the importance of mission and goals. See page 46 for an interview with Richman.
“If you don’t have a DEI strategy that you can pull up right now, then your strategy is not deliberate…If you’re not deliberate about your DEI strategy in the next five years, you will have retention issues, you will have recruitment issues, and you will have culture issues. It’s not enough to have just a diverse workforce.”
