John Dragat, senior vice president of development for Benchmark, passed away on Dec. 20, 2017. His relationship with Benchmark began when his company was retained in the late 1990s. He offi cially joined Benchmark in 2011 to co-lead the investments group while building a team that he led in developing more than 10 Benchmark communities. John was the key designer and champion of a new Benchmark concept, The Branches, the fi rst of which opened in North Attleboro, Mass., a month before his passing. Benchmark will continue to strive to follow his example as a model for the company’s mission to Elevate Human Connection.


Shirley Paulk, who retired in 2016 from The Arbor Company as senior vice president of sales and marketing, passed away on March 4, 2018. Paulk served The Arbor Company for 17 years and was a member of the Argentum sales and marketing executive roundtable. Upon her retirement, The Arbor Company created the Shirley Paulk Spirit of Excellence Award to recognize an Arbor community when its staff exhibits collective eff orts of compassion, excellent care, top-quality customer service, and all-around excellence.
