space available and tell you what they can make possible. By selling tickets in advance, you can ensure you’ve covered costs. If you’d like something different, how about inviting musical acts or a magician to perform at your fair?

own public liability insurance. Bounce around: Infl atables always go down well, but think bigger than a bouncy castle – you can also hire obstacle courses, infl atable slides, bungee runs and ball pools. Some suppliers offer event crew to install and supervise equipment.

Put on a show: A circus makes a great attraction, whether or not you have acres of school fi eld. Circus providers will come and inspect the

Fairground amusements: Rides such as merry-go-rounds, chair swings and swingboats create a vintage theme while offering a magical experience for the children. Ride suppliers may also be able to bring other activities and equipment, such as a strength-test machine. Animal antics: Most people have a soft spot for animals, and there are plenty of options for incorporating them into your summer fair. Look into local petting farms as well as rescue charities when seeing what’s

available. Think outside the box – rabbits and guinea pigs are always lovely, but you could also consider a reptile corner, falconers or even pony or donkey rides. Thrill-seekers: Adrenalin-fuelled activities such as zorbing, go- karting and climbing walls will make an exciting addition to your fair. When booking activities where only a certain amount of people can take part at a time, consider how many children can take part per session, and for how long. This will help you determine a ticket price and decide whether this will be a profi t-maker or purely something to pull in the crowds. Visit our suppliers’ directory
