AMRC North West is part of the University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre, a cluster of world-class centres for innovation and research into advanced manufacturing technologies used in the aerospace, automotive, medical and other high-value manufacturing sectors.
Our research and development is accessible to all. Our goal is to drive innovation across the wider region.
Our achievements
Since establishing our North West centre, our team of experts has worked with more than 450 Lancashire manufacturers through our fully-funded and commercial projects, supporting them to use innovation and technology to overcome challenges, drive up productivity and improve quality. Two particular areas of future focus are improving supply chain resilience and net zero manufacturing.

Blackburn College is one of the largest education providers in Lancashire, providing opportunities for students of all ages to achieve and enter work in a range of industry sectors.

The engineering department is proud of our expert lecturers, some of whom are part of the Technical Teaching Fellowship, and deliver outstanding results with a 99 per cent overall pass rate for the division in 2023.
