Conor Walsh


Founder, Patch App UK

Last year, Conor left his role as an electrical engineer to join entrepreneur Paul White to launch Patch, an app for finding, booking and paying window cleaners, With Conor taking a lead role in pitches, the start-up has already secured more than £500,000 in backing from Lancashire businesses and has more than 1,000 subscribers. Conor is also the inventor of ReelHelp, a device which reduces the amount of plastic used in electrical installations. He was named one the winners of the 2023 Lancashire Innovation Challenge, one of Innovate UK’s Young Innovators of the Year, and has recently been accepted onto the Royal Academy of Engineering’s Regional Talent Programme.


Danny Boyle


Founder, Upholstery2u

Danny launched his own business after feeling that his former employer wasn’t showing enough appetite for growth. Upholstery2u, which provides repairs for major gym and hotel chains, was launched in November 2021 and has quickly made a name for itself within the industry. Starting working by himself and later recruiting his brother, the company has since recruited more than 20 employees, acquired more than 10 vehicles and achieved more than £1m in annual turnover. Earlier this year the company began working with the NHS to rejuvenate beds, increasing the capacity of hospitals, and next up Danny hopes to take his enterprise international.

Jake is a fully qualified, certified chartered accountant and has recently been promoted to senior client manager. He leads Brown & Co’s Thornton office, developing various internal systems and processes across the firm in order to drive efficiencies and profitability. Since joining in 2020, he has enabled the business to grow from £200,000 turnover to over £1m, from four team members to 19. He is on his way to becoming a director at the firm. Jake’s influence is wider than Brown & Co, as he also looks after the firm’s largest clients, and has helped improve many struggling businesses, enhancing their profitability and supporting their owners.

Eleanor specialises in commercial property and long leasehold dispute resolution at Rawtenstall-based Woodcocks Haworth & Nuttall. She joined the firm in 2012, qualifying as a solicitor in 2014 and earning promotion to associate solicitor in 2019. Her reputation as a leading specialist in her field has put her on the map nationally. In the last 12 months she has been recognised by the Legal 500 as a recommended lawyer and has been highlighted as a rising star due to her work on significant matters and being widely cited by peers and clients as having made major contributions to practices. Looking to the future, Eleanor has been working with the business development team with ambitious plans to further build her client base.


Heritage consultant, HPA Architects

Jess has an infectious commitment for protecting heritage assets around the country. Her experience spans the public and private sectors and she has driven additional research into her favoured field. Jess was the project lead for delivering the decarbonisation of Lancaster City Council’s facilities across 10 sites and she is currently working with Rochdale Council looking to improve the district. She is IHBC qualified and sits on the North West board of a society that aims to improve the conservation of buildings. Jess assisted with setting up the Lancaster Rewind Festival which is now being implemented into a heritage trail for the city. She is also the director of HPA Architects’ sister company Woohoo Sustainability and Heritage which specialises in sustainable retrofit of heritage buildings.

Mortgage adviser, AKORN Financial Advice and will writer, AKORN Legal

Jessica joined Burnley-based AKORN’s financial advice business as a trainee, quickly progressing to become a fully fledged adviser with her own client bank. In addition, Jessica has been instrumental in launching sister company AKORN Legal, where she has helped with strategy, setting up processes and procedures, new business generation and the delivery of all services. Testament to her ability and dedication to her industry, Jessica was recently accepted on to the future leaders program delivered by UCLan through the Burnley Bondholders. Jessica has plans to spark additional growth by further expanding AKORN’s range of services and is expected to become a director of the company within the next 12 months.
