RED ROSE AWARDS: WE’RE RAISING THE BAR EVEN HIGHER!

It’s back! Work is already underway to make the 2024 Red Rose Awards the biggest and best yet.

And all will be revealed when the awards are officially launched at Mytton Fold in October.

The winners will be unveiled during Lancashire business’ biggest night of the year on Thursday March 14 - a glittering awards event that will once again be held at Winter Gardens, Blackpool.

The Red Rose Awards are a fantastic celebration of all that is great across our county – a centrepiece of business excellence. However, there is much more to them than that.

Lancashire Business View managing director Stephen Bolton said: “With the Red Rose Awards we have built a real community, through collaboration and partnership with sponsors and supporters alike.

“Since 2011 the awards have grown each year, through the introduction of key elements such as the finalist interview training and winners masterclasses, all designed to celebrate and champion business excellence in the county.

“However, now it is time to raise the bar again and that is hugely exciting for us and everyone connected with the Red Rose Awards.”

SUMMER CONNECTIONS

Pink Link, the North West’s leading female business network, brought together more than 150 women to their summer regional events in Lancashire and Cumbria.

It was an opportunity to discover more about the women behind the region’s businesses. A wide range of industries exhibited their products and services.

Lancashire Business View partnered the first event at Blackburn Cathedral with

Unique Events and BBC Radio Lancashire came along to interview the guests.

Coral Horn, founder of Pink Link, said: “We’ve had a great response from the women who attended.”

PLEDGE TO BOOST SKILLS

Lancashire Business View has joined 250 organisations across the county in committing to supporting skills and training.

Our company is just the latest to sign up to the Skills Pledge, created by the Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub. To join the pledge, members must commit to at least one of eight actions - which they are either already undertaking or willing to begin.

The pledges include: volunteering an hour to schools and colleges to help young people get ready for the working world, recruiting an apprentice or becoming an apprenticeship ambassador, prioritising recruiting Lancashire people and upskilling your workforce, providing work experience or industry placements and offering places to university students.

In return, the hub offers free support to help organisations attract a future talent pipeline, recruit staff, upskill their workforce or simply inspire and support the next generation.

This tailored support includes help securing up to £3,000 of funding for apprenticeship placements, funded skills bootcamps across

a variety of sectors and access to a wide variety of support from an established network of peers.

Stephen Bolton, managing director of Lancashire Business View, said: “Signing the pledge is a win-win situation. We all have a responsibility to support great initiatives such as these that help benefit the wider community. At the same time, the commitment benefits our own organisation by helping us builder a stronger, more capable team.”

Dr Michele Lawty-Jones, director of the Lancashire Skills and Employment Hub, said: “We are delighted that Lancashire Business View has signed up to the Lancashire Skills Pledge and is supporting some great work in inspiring the next generation in schools.

“We hope that this will inspire more business in the county to do the same and find out how they can gain support to inspire their next generation of talent, take on an apprentice, upskill their workforce or offer work experience/ industry placements to young people or university students or just give a short amount of time to visit a local school and promote their business or sector.”

DECARBONISATION IS IMPERATIVE FOR BUSINESSES

Decarbonisation is strategically imperative for businesses right now. The effects of climate change pose significant risks to supply chains, assets and business continuity.

Additionally, customers, investors and regulators are progressively demanding that companies take measurable actions to reduce their carbon footprints. More than a corporate ‘buzzword’, decarbonisation represents a behavioural and operational shift that every business makes to mitigate the effects of climate change and remain competitive in an increasingly eco-conscious marketplace.

Businesses that adopt decarbonisation strategies stand to reap considerable rewards - cost savings from energy efficiency, resilience against supply chain disruptions, enhanced brand reputation, and access to new market opportunities.

Transitioning to low-carbon technologies, overcoming regulatory hurdles and securing the necessary investments are all substantial tasks. Moreover, integrating decarbonisation efforts into core business processes can seem daunting.

However, with the right strategic support, planning and implementation, businesses can design an effective, tailored decarbonisation roadmap that promotes partnerships for collaborative innovation and investment in technologies that enable energy efficiency and carbon capture. Our Hawk-i solution is a good place to start identifying how your business is using energy, providing valuable data which can be used to start making change.

The journey to decarbonisation is a journey towards a sustainable, resilient, and prosperous business landscape. The question for businesses today is not whether to embark on this journey, but how quickly they start.

Don’t delay the inevitable. Speak to us today about the energy efficiency options available to you and how you might start to implement them within your business.
