Apprentices are playing an integral part in the growth and development of Lancashire businesses across all sectors of the economy.


Andrew Wood, chief executive of Skelmersdale-headquartered UPS Building and Maintenance, told the conference that apprenticeships helped to deliver growth as well as sustainability.


Describing his apprentices as “amazing”, he added: “I don’t believe we’d be where we are today without them.

Mark Edwards, operations director of IT and telecoms company Seriun, took on the theme. He said apprentices were “integral to our business.”

Mark added that the company also invested time in its apprenticeship programme to ensure its success. He said that good management and support was critical to the success of apprenticeships.
