THE MAGAZINE FOR THE DRAINAGE,WATER &WASTEWATER INDUSTRIES

MAIN FEATURE

sectors like jewellery and the like, many operations have still used this avenue as the means to get people to indulge in direct contact with real personnel. Yes numerous companies, distributers etc. do offer online sales but in many cases this comes after they have established contact and rapport with the individuals that may be responsible for recommending or purchasing equipment.

The current Covid-19 situation has of course altered this considerably and these and many other companies and organisations have looked at how the connectivity available today can maintain and improve these contacts as well as generating more without interpersonal contact.

Several digital variations have grown in use and effectiveness over the past 6 months. Whilst they have been used for some time they have now, for many become indispensable options for information spread and education from techniques, through conference papers and product information dissemination. The likes of webinars, podcasts, online learning, virtual trade shows etc. are now becoming almost commonplace even though they have had to be developed at a pace previously unseen across the industries we have an interest in.

Following are some examples of who has done

what to try to keep pace in their world despite the restrictions imposed by governments worldwide to try to protect their populations from this vile disease.

Westrade Group, world-renowned for its trade events in the trenchless sector across Europe, the Middle East and Asia, including No-Dig Live (NDL), Trenchless Middle East (TME) and Trenchless Asia (TA) is one company that has, over the course of 2020, been affected by the Covid-19 crisis with the various event postponements and delays to shows that it has brought with it. Westrade has very effectively risen to the challenge of keeping its clients and the industry it serves up to date with the technology to hand in the modern world, in association with many of its global partners. The latest innovation from Westrade Group Ltd, Westrade Digital was launched back in January 2020, in order to sustain the sense of community created by its biennial trenchless events, the websites www.nodiglive.co.uk, www.trenchlessasia.com and www.trenchlessmiddleeast.com were developed to become the voice of the show’s audience bringing news, opinion and information together from across the UK and international trenchless technology sector.

“Westrade organised the very first No-Dig exhibition in London 1985, subsequently we

have gained over 35 years’ experience, successfully promoting Trenchless and No-Dig shows in countries all across the world. This puts us in the unique position of being able to provide a diverse audience in all aspects of the installation or refurbishment of underground utilities. Such is the buzz and excitement at the trenchless events, it seemed a waste not to capture this and maintain the networking and knowledge-sharing opportunities that, up until now, were only afforded at the events themselves. The websites allow our community to stay engaged and connected 365 days a year, 24 hours a day – a real opportunity to join a trenchless community.” said Paul Harwood, Managing Director of Westrade Group Ltd.
