Management and leadership skills have a major impact on the development, productivity and performance of organisations of all sizes and across all sectors of the economy. In today’s fast-moving, competitive environment there is a need to continue to drive up the performance of the best and to address weaknesses in management and leadership that are holding back productivity and performance.
This Level 5 Higher Apprenticeship in Leadership & Management has been developed to support those working as managers, senior managers, heads of department, directors and those working in a range of other senior management positions.
Managers operating at Level 5 play an integral role in setting and supporting organisational objectives through a wide range of functions, such as informing strategic decision-making, managing budgets, planning and implementing change and leading teams and managing programmes of complementary projects.
The key aims of this standard are to provide employers of all sizes and across all sectors with a high-quality, nationally-recognised programme which will attract new talent into management and up-skill the existing workforce to make businesses more productive, efficient and profitable.
You will complete the CMI (Chartered Management Institute) Level 5 Diploma in Management and Leadership as part of this programme, and apprentices will receive Chartered Manager status through the CMI.
PROGRESSION
With support and opportunities in the workplace, you can progress onto a range of management and other professional qualifications at Level 6 and above, or Higher Education to undertake management, business or other qualifications. These could include the Level 6 Chartered Manager apprenticeship or the BA (Hons) Professional Development at Petroc.

HIGHER APPRENTICESHIP IN ADVANCED MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING - LEVEL 4

The UK manufacturing sector employs 2.7 million people*, with an estimated 1.27 million engineers, scientists and technologists; of these, around a third are employed in higher-level technical roles.
Despite the depth and breadth of this sector, it still faces challenges; the workforce is ageing and large numbers of higher-level technical workers are required to replace those retiring in England. In order to fill higher-level skills gaps, manufacturing employers have increased training activity/spend through programmes such as this Higher Apprenticeships framework.
On this apprenticeship, you will study modules such as analytical and scientific fundamentals, and further development of statics, dynamics, engineering materials and CAD. You will complete the Level 4 NVQ Diploma/ Extended Diploma, Level 4 HNC Diploma, HNC in Engineering and/or Foundation Degree in Engineering (the required combination of qualifications is determined by the pathway).
PROGRESSION
This apprenticeship provides excellent preparation towards professional registration as an Engineering Technician and progression to Incorporated Engineer registration via the Level 6 framework. It may also provide progression to a range of Honours degrees. The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS) recognise that this apprenticeship provides the necessary skills, knowledge and experience to allow apprentices to apply for Engineering Technician status within their institutions.

4 YEARS (3 YEARS AT PETROC; 1 YEAR AT UNIVERSITY)
The following Degree Apprenticeships are all practical, hands-on programmes that give you a solid core of digital and IT expertise that is totally applicable to the needs of industry today. As the programme is delivered in collaboration with the University of Plymouth, apprentices will obtain a full BSc Honours degree alongside gaining valuable work experience and earning a salary.
Typically, this apprenticeship is offered over four years, and you’ll spend roughly 20% of your working week (that’s one day per week if you work full-time) studying.
This is the amount of in-work time your employer will be expected to allow you to study. You may also want, or be required, to allocate some of your own time for additional study.
For the first three years, study is based at the college with the final year delivered at the University of Plymouth. You will study these core modules in addition to the modules listed for each specialist route.
