PROFESSIONAL ACCOUNTANT APPRENTICESHIP STANDARD - LEVEL 4
AB112 18 MONTHS
The purpose of this apprenticeship framework is to train accountants to technician level (Level 4). It will build on the knowledge and skills developed during an Advanced Apprenticeship in Accounting (Level 3), enabling you to maximise opportunities in your current or future employment.
This framework has been developed by employers and providers to meet the needs of small and medium- sized enterprises through to larger organisations. It provides a structured approach to training and developing prospective accountants who understand the needs of the organisation, its customers and the sector within which they operate.
The Higher Apprenticeship in Accounting covers high-level accounting and finance topics and tasks. You will look at, and become comfortable with, a wide range of financial management skills and applications, and gain competencies in drafting financial statements for limited companies, recommending accounting systems strategy, and constructing and presenting complex management accounting reports. You will also study specialist areas such as tax, auditing, credit management, and cash and treasury management.
You will complete the Level 4 Diploma in Business Skills and Level 4 Professional Diploma in Accounting, both of which are awarded by the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), as part of this programme.
PROGRESSION
Upon successful completion, apprentices become AAT affiliate members and will qualify for full AAT membership, which will allow them to use MAAT in their title. Successful apprentices may be able to progress onto a Foundation Degree in Accounting or various degree programmes in accounting and finance.

HIGHER APPRENTICESHIP IN CARE LEADERSHIP AND MANAGEMENT - LEVEL 5
AB129 3 YEARS
The adult social care sector is steadily expected to grow its number of employees, needing a minimum of two million workers by 2025, giving apprentices great potential for a career in a growing sector.
The majority of these roles are at operational level, for which the Adult Care Worker and Lead Adult Care Worker Standard is suitable. However, this Higher Apprenticeship is to support workers at a higher level, so they can meet service and delivery demands and lead/manage the workforce. Higher apprentices will be working as managers of staff and/or services in general residential and non-residential settings.
This apprenticeship framework contributes towards developing a social care sector with a skilled, flexible and effective workforce, whilst maintaining high quality and safe care for those who use services. The programme covers topics such as promoting professional development, safeguarding and protection of vulnerable adults, recruitment and selection, and understanding professional management and leadership. You will also undertake a research project.
You will complete the Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People’s Services, awarded by City and Guilds, during this apprenticeship programme.
PROGRESSION
You may progress from this programme onto further qualifications specific to your work context. Higher apprentices can also move to other parts of the sector, for example from adults’ advanced practice to adults’ residential management. You may also move to the children and young people’s workforce sector or the health sector.
HIGHER APPRENTICESHIP IN CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT (SITE SUPERVISION) - LEVEL 4

The Higher Apprenticeship in Construction Management (Site Supervision) at Level 4 has been developed to meet the higher level skills needs of sectors including Building and Civil Engineering, Highways and Maintenance Repairs, Residential Development, Conservation, Demolition and Tunnelling.
Apprentices will be working at, or towards, a supervisory level post, likely assisting a Site Manager to manage staff and budgets, ensure contracts are delivered on time and to programme, and being responsible for hiring of staff, deliveries, quality management and costs.
You will gain experience and knowledge in health and safety, professional ethics, management methods and principles, maths and science so that you can apply this to workplace situations.
You will complete the Level 4 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Supervision (Construction) and Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Construction as part of this programme.
PROGRESSION
There is a wide range of opportunities open to apprentices following a structured career path, such as building, civil engineering and specialist occupations. You may progress to a variety of qualifications, including the NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Construction Management (Sustainability), Foundation Degree Professional Practice in Construction Operations Management, the BA (Hons) Construction Site Management or the BA (Hons) Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management at Level 6.

HUMAN RESOURCE CONSULTANT APPRENTICESHIP STANDARD - LEVEL 5

HR professionals are required to perform to a high standard to ensure that resources are managed as efficiently as possible, that staff are retained and released where appropriate, and that policies are adhered to. It is therefore important that current and future HR professionals are equipped with the right skills to remain competitive in the workplace.
By combining on and off-the-job learning, those undertaking a Higher HR Apprenticeship will develop insights into their organisation’s business challenges and capability needs, and will therefore be more effective in applying their knowledge to support their organisation’s goals.
This programme is aimed at those working in HR officer or assistant HR manager roles and offers a new route to Associate Membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
Higher apprentices will cover key modules such as Developing Professional Practice in Human Resource, Understanding the Business Context of Human Resource, Understanding the Contemporary Human Resource Function and Using a Research Approach in Human Resources.
You will complete the Level 5 Certificate in Human Resource Management as part of this programme. This qualification is awarded by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
PROGRESSION
Successful apprentices could continue to progress via a number of opportunities, such as CIPD Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management, undergraduate and post graduate degrees in HR management or business-related areas, various HR manager/advisor roles or through membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).
