Are you interested in becoming a computer specialist? In this flexible course, you will gain a solid understanding of many aspects of computing and learn how to program, interconnect and configure computers, as well as how to produce applications that look attractive and original as well as being functional.


You will study a range of modules, including Developing Graduate Skills, Business Enterprise and Website Design & Development. A distinctive feature of the course is that it is based on Agile principles – current industry ‘best practice’ project management theory.


You will be assessed in a variety of ways: there are written assignments, in-class tests, examinations, individual and group presentations and research projects.


PROGRESSION


On successful completion, students may be able to progress to the third year of the BSc (Hons) Computing at the University of Plymouth. Please note that there is a deadline for progression applications and places may be subject to availability.

2 YEARS, FULL-TIME 3 YEARS, PART-TIME


This exciting and dynamic course will develop your practical skills and knowledge as a musician. You will be taught to enhance and support these skills in a broader context including organising, managing, recording and presenting your own music, and marketing it using varied methods. The course has close links with local and national events and music management companies, giving you the best chance at getting your foot in the door of the music industry.


You will study a wide range of modules, including Styles & Techniques, Professional Musicianship, and Artist Development.


Stage 1 introduces professional and developmental skills to enable you to progress your ability as a musician, develop your knowledge of music theory, the music business, performance techniques, and music production skills.


Stage 2 will develop the skills you learnt in Stage 1 by enabling you to develop as an entrepreneurial musician, progressing skills in areas such as events management, on-stage performance, artist development, professional practice and composition.


You will have access to an 800-capacity live music and arts venue, individual workstations, state-of-the-art recording studios, and rehearsal booths.


PROGRESSION


Successful FdA students may be able to progress to Stage 3 of the BA (Hons) Music at the University of Plymouth, subject to an application deadline date and availability. Applications must be made within three years.


FdA EARLY CHILDHOOD STUDIES AWARDING BODY: UNIVERSITY OF PLYMOUTH

This well-established and successful FdA offers the most contemporary and current perspective on early childhood studies, making it a perfect choice to develop your skills and further a career in early education and care.


The course comprises six 20-credit modules at each level of study (six per year for full-time study), including Professional Skills and Development, Young Children’s Welfare and Wellbeing, Theories of Learning and Development, Perspectives on Childhood, Health and Physical Wellbeing, and Social and Emotional Development.


You will be given a strong core of knowledge in psychology, sociology, and the holistic development of children, and you will also have the opportunity to specialise in areas by selecting topics of interest, furthering links to your professional development. Engaging lectures, collaborative and independent study, opportunities for trips and events with the University, and guest speakers provide you with a uniquely supportive and challenging learning environment.


Assessment is via a range of innovative, challenging and professionally relevant modes. There are no exams, and you will be assessed throughout the academic year.


PROGRESSION


Upon successful completion, students are eligible to progress to a number of top-up awards, with the eventual qualification awarded being either a BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies (top up) or BA (Hons) Education Studies with the University of Plymouth, or the BA (Hons) Professional Development (Early Childhood Studies) (top up) at Petroc.


Subsequent study opportunities may include post- graduate study at Masters level, or a post-graduate training programme such as a PGCE in order to train as a teacher.
