This FdSc deepens your knowledge of human biology and related topics.
Throughout the course, you will study a wide range of subjects, including Anatomy, Human Life Cycle, Genetics, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Human Physiology. You will develop skills and knowledge across the spectrum of subject disciplines, enabling an understanding of these and other key questions relating to human biology, health and disease.
The assessments vary from essays and presentations to lab reports and exams. Most modules have two assessments during the year as well as a final exam.
PROGRESSION
Successful foundation degree graduates may be able to progress to the final year of the BSc (Hons) Human Biosciences or the BSc (Hons) Biosciences (top-up) degree at the University of Plymouth, or complete their degree at an alternative institution. Please note that there is a deadline for progression applications and places may be subject to availability. Jobs in areas such as biomedical and public health laboratories, pharmaceutical companies, sales & marketing, health development, food quality control and teaching are some of the roles that would suit the FdSc graduate.
We have busy, well-equipped studios that offer an energetic atmosphere and a friendly environment. Study includes practical and theoretical work embracing individual and collaborative activities.
PROGRESSION
Upon successful completion, students may be able to progress to the third year of the BA (Hons) Illustration at the University of Plymouth. You may also be able to progress to the part-time BA Professional Development (Creative Industries) award delivered at Petroc. The most engaging and memorable illustrations come from people with a bold, clear approach. Study illustration with us and you’ll learn how to create images that are different to everyone else’s. We don’t have a ‘house style’ – we’ll actively encourage you to discover and develop your own illustrative voice.
This voice will help you attract the attention of commissioning agents and publishers, and find work doing what you love.
Illustration is a visually dynamic means of communication and demands imaginative, creative, versatile students willing to develop their own voice. This course aims to help you develop the skills and ideas necessary for the evolving world of contemporary illustrative practice.
