The skills learnt on this course are transferable and can be applied to a wide range of careers within the legal and business world. It is ideally suited to those thinking about working in the legal department of a large organisation. It would also be perfect for someone who owns their own business.


This Foundation Degree will introduce you to a broad range of legal concepts, relevant in both legal practices, and also in business. Employability, practical and transferable skills feature highly, allowing you to offer real and appropriate skills whether in a legal or business environment.


The course will include a large practical element, and you will have the chance to visit court, learn how to complete court papers and hone interview and presentation skills. The course is not a qualifying law degree and anyone who wanted to pursue a career as a solicitor or barrister would need to complete additional study.


PROGRESSION


Students who achieve an overall aggregate grade of 40% or above in the foundation degree will be allowed to progress to Level 5 of the LLB programme or Level 6 of the BSc (Hons) Law with Business at the University of Plymouth. Do you have a drive to make things work? If so, this course is for you. The modules that make up the course are designed to be challenging and to establish a knowledge base suitable for a career in technology.


It has been identified that developing skills at this level are key to impacting on a company’s bottom line. This would ideally suit people who wish to work, or who are already working, as technicians in mechanical design, manufacturing or associated industries. You must be open-minded when analysing the modules of this course.


The course has a common core of analytical methods, developing graduate skills, organisational behaviour, CAD, and project work. The mechanical design and manufacturing pathway includes engineering science, manufacturing processes, engineering science, instrumentation and control, design processes and manufacturing systems.

Upon successful completion, students may be able to progress to Level 6 of BSc (Hons) Mechanical Design and Manufacture or Level 5 of the BSc (Hons) Marine & Composite Technology at the University of Plymouth. Progression to the BEng Mechanical Programmes Suite Level 5 at the University of Plymouth may be possible providing that 60% of the modules already completed were numerical subjects. Please note that there is a deadline for progression applications and places may be subject to availability. Incorporated Engineers often work alongside Chartered Engineers on technological innovation; with a combination of higher qualifications and work experience, this can lead learners to Chartered Engineer status.


FdA MUSIC PRODUCTION AND LIVE SOUND

This course is aimed at music producers who wish to develop their skills to a professional level and gain an in-depth understanding of the music industry. A key feature of this course is its dual focus on technology and creativity. The programme has close links with local and national events and music management companies, giving you the best chance at getting your foot in the door of the music industry.


You will study a wide range of modules, including Live Sound Engineering, Recording Studio Engineering, and Sound & Music for Film/TV/Games.


Stage 1 introduces professional and developmental skills to enable you to progress your ability as a live sound and recording engineer, and also develop your knowledge of mixing and mastering.


Stage 2 will take the skills you developed in Stage 1 further. You will develop as an entrepreneurial music practitioner, progressing skills in events management, live sound, lighting for performance, sequencing, record production, and sound for media.


You will have access to an 800-capacity live music and arts venue, individual workstations, state-of-the-art recording studios, and rehearsal booths.


PROGRESSION


Students who successfully pass their foundation degree may be able to progress to Stage 3 of the BA (Hons) Music at the University, subject to an application deadline and the availability of places. Applications must be made within three years.
