Latam has added 30 new routes in the last two years

LATAM AIRLINES EXPANDS NETWORK Latam will have added 17 new international routes by the end of the year (a total of 30 in the last two years). In Peru, twin-centre links are improving with a further eight new direct flights being added to the airline’s network, connecting Cusco with key tourist destinations such as Arequipa, Juliaca and Puerto Maldonado, Pisco, Iquitos and Trujillo, Lima and Santiago de Chile. ARGENTINA GOES ECO The National Institute of Tourism Promotion of Argentina has recently launched a tourist route named the Ecotourism Corridor in the Litoral region of the country. The circuit encompasses four major areas including Iguazu & Mancona, Ibera, Impenetrable and Banado La Estrella, and features hiking and horse-riding paths and opportunities to learn about native people and their culture. MEXICO ANNOUNCES GROWTH


More than 75% of Puerto Vallarta’s hotels have made renovations or expansions in the last three years. Hilton Puerto Vallarta added La Hacienda in March – 192 junior suites situated around a central courtyard – while 54-room minimalist Hotel Amapa will open shortly in the Zona Romantica. The first stage of a new cruise terminal opens this winter while an aquarium follows in February. (LA100)

See unusual wildlife on Argentina’s new eco-tourism route


Antarctica21 will launch a new ship in 2019 called Magellan Explorer. The modern expedition vessel, custom-built for Antarctic air-cruises, can carry 69 passengers in cabins featuring balconies and living rooms. The ship also boasts a glass- enclosed observation lounge, dining room, bar, library, gym and medical clinic. Itineraries include Tierra del Fuego, Cape Horn and Antarctica. (LA500)
